Please download the package named "Windows Installer" from the official OpenVPN website. Choose the most recent version of OpenVPN (current version: openvpn-2.1.3-install.exe). Save this file to your hard disk.
Please start the installation by double clicking on the downloaded installation file.
The default installation folder for OpenVPN varies according to the operating system that you are using. OpenVPN is 32bit software and will be installed to "C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenVPN" on 64bit operating systems.
In case you are using a 32bit operating system like Windows XP, your default OpenVPN installation folder will be "C:\Program Files\OpenVPN".
In case the installer asks you to accept the installation of the tap32 driver during the installation process, please respond with "Yes" or "Continue Anyway" (depending on your operating system). OpenVPN needs this network adapter to function properly.
The installation of your OpenVPN client is now complete. Now you will now find an icon for OpenVPN on your desktop.
Before you can start using your HomeVPN account, you will need to finish our online setup wizard. Please click here to go to your "My Services" page and then click on your newly ordered vpn service. In case this is the first time that you access the page, the setup wizard will automatically start (otherwise, you can start the wizard any time by clicking on the "start wizard"). Please follow the instructions of the setup wizard. The 3rd and last step of the wizard will ask you to download your personal OpenVPN configuration. Please save and unzip the config.zip into the "config" folder inside your OpenVPN installation folder.
In case you are using Windows XP, please click on your new desktop icon labeled "OpenVPN GUI" in order to start your OpenVPN client. In case you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, please right click on your new desktop icon and choose "Run as Administrator".
You will notice a new icon in your Windows system tray in the lower right-hand corner of your desktop. This icon remains red-colored until an OpenVPN connection is established.
To establish your HomeVPN connection, please right click on the OpenVPN symbol in your system tray and choose "connect". In case you have other OpenVPN configurations (not related to HomeVPN) you will find your HomeVPN account under the name "homevpn" in this context menu.
Atfer having clicked on "connect", OpenVPN will ask for a username and password. Please enter the username and password of your HomeVPN account (which you have used on the website). In case you have forgotten your credentials, you can retrieve them using our password recovery page.
OpenVPN will now connect to the HomeVPN server that you have chosen during your setup wizard.
You will notice that color of the OpenVPN icon in the system tray (in the right-hand corner of your Windows taskbar) has changed from red to yellow and then to green. To disconnect from our server, simply right click on this icon and click on "disconnect" in the context menu.
