Installation of OpenVPN
The application "Tunnelblick" can be used as an OpenVPN client on Mac OS X. You can download it from the Tunnelblick website
This HowTo was tested with the recent stable version 3.0.
Please download this package.
Start the installation with a doubleclick on the .dmg file. Being a package from unknown origin, Mac OS X will trigger a security warning. Please click "Open" and "Install" in the next window.
After the installation has finished, start the application using the "Launch" button. You will need username and password for an account with administrator privileges to do this.
At this stage, no OpenVPN configuration exists. Choose the option "Create and open configuration folder" in the following window. This will become the folder to copy your HomeVPN configuration files into.
Log into your HomeVPN account on http://homevpn.com and download your configuration from there.
Open the zipped configuration file.
Copy everything into the configuration folder of "Tunnelblick"
Start "Tunnelblick" using the button "Launch Tunnelblick".
A "Tunnelblick" icon will appear in your Status Bar. Right-clicking this icon will show you a drop-down menu through which you can connect to your HomeVPN service. During the first launch the application has to adjust some privileges. Like before you will need the credentials of an administrative account for this to work.
Now you can use the the VPN service using your HomeVPN account.
In the next step, please enter the username and password of your HomeVPN account. In case you forgot your credentials, you can retrieve them any time from our website.
OpenVPN is connecting to one of the HomeVPN servers.
You will notice the color of the icon in the Status Bar in the downer right corner changing. You may choose the same procedure if you want to disconnect from HomeVPN. In this case choose "disconnect" while the connection is still active.
We hope you will enjoy your HomeVPN account! Please feel free to contact our support staff if you have any questions regarding the service, your subscription or our other products.
